Earl G. Groby, 94, of Fountain, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at the Spring Valley Care Center.

Earl was born on Sept. 3, 1919, in rural Spring Valley, the son of Vilan and Clara (Rongley) Groby. He attended country school. He farmed his entire life near the Fountain area. On Jan. 5, 1974, he married Evelyn Smallbrouck at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. He enjoyed fishing, camping, visiting with folks and taking many sightseeing trips.

He is survived by one sister, Grace Rodgers of Chatfield; a special cousin, Betty (Freddie) Milbrandt of Rochester; two stepchildren, Johnny (Lily) Robbins of Texas and Angela Robbins of Florida; a special couple to Earl, Mark and Judy Arndt of Chatfield and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn, and one sister, Verna Bolles.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today (Wednesday) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Revs. Dennis Timmerman and Laura Fladten officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Valley Cemetery.
