Henry Iverson, 89, previously of Austin, Minn., died of renal failure Sunday, Dec 22, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center in Port Lavaca, Texas.

Henry Lowell Iverson was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Bennington Township to Theodore and Dena Iverson.

Henry served in the U.S. Army during WWII, doing special duty during war crimes trials in the Philippines. He married June Carol Francis on Sept 1, 1950, and they lived in Austin, where he worked at Hormel for 30 years, retiring in 1980. Henry loved to work in the yard and raised a large garden for many years. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed history and biographies. Henry was a member of the American Legion, and Henry and June were both members of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, even after they moved to Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, June in 2007, brothers, Leverne and Ray, sister, Violet, and sister, Doris, who died in infancy.

Henry is survived by his sister, Marlys Larson of Spring Valley; daughters, Debra (Curt) Long of Katy, Texas, Sherri (Benny) Judice of Port O'Connor, Texas; grandchildren, Ashlee Long of Katy, Texas, Curtis (Brittany) Long of Houston, Texas, Tara (Adam) Taylor of Austin, Texas, Tasha (Luis) Falcon of Waianae, Hawaii, Brian Judice of Port O'Connor, Texas, and three great-grandchildren, Simon Taylor and Adrian and Maddox Falcon.

The funeral will be at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, Minn., on Monday, June 30, at 10 a.m. with interment at Grandview Cemetery following the service.
