Henry Iverson, brother of Spring Valley woman

Henry Iverson, 89, formerly of Austin, died of renal failure Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center in Port Lavaca, Texas.
Henry Lowell Iverson was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Bennington Township to Theodore and Dena Iverson.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, doing special duty during war crimes trials in the Philippines.
He married June Carol Francis on Sept. 1, 1950, and they lived in Austin, where he worked at Hormel for 30 years, retiring in 1980.
He loved to work in the yard and raised a large garden for many years. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed history and biographies.
He was a member of the American Legion, and he and his wife were both members of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, even after they moved to Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his sister, Marlys Larson of Spring Valley; daughters, Debra (Curt) Long of Katy, Texas, and Sherri (Benny) Judice of Port O'Connor, Texas; grandchildren, Ashlee Long of Katy, Texas, Curtis (Brittany) Long of Houston, Texas, Tara (Adam) Taylor of Austin, Texas, Tasha (Luis) Falcon of Waianae, Hawaii, Brian Judice of Port O'Connor, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Simon Taylor and Adrian and Maddox Falcon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June, in 2007; his brothers, Leverne and Ray; a sister, Violet and a sister, Doris, who died in infancy.
There will be a celebration of his life and memorial service on Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. at New Creation Lutheran Church in Fulshear, Texas.
Funeral services at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin and burial at Grandview Cemetery are planned for this summer, with details pending.
