Lillian E. Arett, 92, of Spring Valley, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

She was born on March 26, 1921, in York Township to Oliver and Anna (Holman) Kingsley. She was a graduate of Wykoff High School. On June 8, 1940, she was united in marriage to Virgil Arett at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mrs. Arett worked at the V Store in Spring Valley for many years, and she later worked at Dayton's in Rochester. Dancing to old time music, cooking for her family, and traveling, seeing most of the United States, were some of her favorite pastimes.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Virgil of Spring Valley; children, Kyle (Debbie) Arett of Atlanta, Kent (Erika) Arett of Boulder, Colo., and Vicky (Jim) O'Connell of Spring Valley; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Laura Zidlicky of Postville, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cynthia, three sisters, Gladys, Mae and Angela, and a brother, Emmett.

Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 9, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Revs. Laura Fladten and Dennis Timmerman officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
