Linda Elaine (Hendickson) Gawthrop, 65, of Minneapolis, formerly of Cherry Grove, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2013, at NC Little Hospice in Edina, Minn., after a three-year battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born Feb. 8,1948, to Nordahl and Louise (Grabau) Hendrickson. She attended Red School and Harmony High School, graduating in 1965.

She married William (Bill) Gawthrop of Alexandria, Minn., Feb. 10,1968. They later divorced.

She worked for United Telephone in Alexandria for many years. In 1999, she earned a degree in nursing and worked at United Hospital in Minneapolis, retiring in February 2013. She was very active in nursing organizations, community and church.

Survivors include one daughter, Jill (Rick) Roehl; a very precious granddaughter, Allison, whom she adored; one sister, Annette (Duane) Hyland of Spring Valley; one sister-in-law, Sandy Hendrickson of LeRoy; three nieces, Joann (Al) Leutink of Spring Valley, Julie (Scott) Back of Ostrander and Summer (Dustin) Lidtke of Hastings; nephews, Michael (Julie) Hyland of Spring Valley and Luke (Maggie) Hendrickson; two great-nieces, Megan Back and Layla Hendrickson; and two great-nephews; Troy Leutink and Logan Back.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Curtis Hendrickson, and one niece, Stephanie Hyland.

A memorial service will be held Aug 23 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
