Phillip "Bert" John Richer, 15, of Spring Valley, and formerly of Tomah, Wis., died on Thursday, March 7, 2013.

He was born on March 24, 1997, to Mark Richer and Michelle Mc Garry at La Crosse. He attended the Miller Elementary School in Tomah and was currently attending LeRoy High School. He worked for Root River Country Club as a dishwasher and was recently promoted to a cook position, which he was excited and looking forward to doing. He had a love for music and was a member of the LeRoy High School Choir. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. He also enjoyed riding his dirt bike and spending a summer evening around a campfire with his family and friends. He also was a past hockey player.

He is survived by his father, Mark (Amanda) Richer of Church Point, La.; and his mother, Michelle (Robert) Myers of Spring Valley; a twin sister, Elizabeth Richer, and a brother, Devin Richer, both of Spring Valley; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Hunter and Jade Myers of LeRoy, Thomas "TJ" and Tyler Masters of Church Point, La., and Trinity Ducommun of Rice Lake, Wis.; special friend, Courtney Erding; maternal grandparents, Barbara (Michael) Eirschele and Gary Mc Garry all of Tomah; paternal grandparents, Gene (Colleen) Richer of Tomah, a stepgrandfather, Gerald Myers of Kellogg, Minn., a great-grandfather, Harley Kennedy of Tomah, a great-grandmother, Ruth Eirschele of Tomah; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many close friends and classmates.

He was preceded in death by his stepgrandmother, Susan Myers, great-grandparents, Zona and Wyatt Shisler, Glennie and David Mc Garry and Helen Kennedy.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 11 a.m., at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 310 W. Elizabeth Street, Tomah. The Rev. David Dahl will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah, and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
