Roger Hellickson, 79, of Spring Valley, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at his home.

Roger W. Hellickson was born Nov. 15, 1933, to Lindeman and Cora (Vikse) Hellickson. He was a graduate of Spring Valley High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. In 1964, he was united in marriage to Twyla Ramaker, and they later divorced. After returning from the service, Roger was a truck driver for the Hannah Iron Mines, and for many years was a general manager at the Spring Valley Municipal Liquor Store.

Auctions were one of Roger's favorite pastimes. He was a collector of many treasures, and he found great pleasure in finding them at auctions. He also enjoyed studying his genealogy and the summertime when he could take care of his lawn.

Roger is survived by his children, Rusty (Kelly) Hellickson of Spring Valley, Randy (Jodi) Hellickson of Rochester and Stacy (Frank) Harreld of Stewartville; seven grandchildren, Jesse, Tanner, Ian, Drew, Blake, Isaac and Madison; and his siblings, Loren Hellickson of Maryland, Arlys Risius of Austin and George (Kathy) Hellickson of Rochester.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 15, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley. Burial will take place at a later date.
