William "Bill" Burke, 61, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at his home in Spring Valley.

He was born June 8, 1951, in Cresco, Iowa, to Allan and Rita (Shea) Burke. He graduated from Notre Dame Catholic School in 1969. On Jan. 31, 1971, he married Carol Craft.

In the 1970s, he served in the United States Navy. After being discharged, he was employed as an owner/operator semi-truck driver for 25 years. After his career of truck driving, he was employed for nine years as a forklift driver for Featherlite Trailers. In 2002, he began training as an IV technologist with the Mayo Clinic, where he worked until his death.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley Davison motorcycle, and spending time with family, friends, and his dog "Little B."

He is survived by three daughters, Kimberly (Roland) Shever of Knoxville, Iowa, and their children, Nathan, Samantha, Hunter and Brianna; Tina (Dennis Hron) Burke of Cresco, and their children, Christopher, Jordan, Tyler and Amber; and Cary (Craig Witt) Burke of Lime Springs, Iowa, and their children, Bruce, Billie, Bobbi and Bailey Burke; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Steven; three brothers, Roger, Francis and Tim; and four sisters, Mary, Barb, Theresa and Alice.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers, Bruce and Steven.

A celebration of life gathering will be set for a later date.
