Kingsland's school board convened last Wednesday for its annual organizational meeting. Chairman Doug Plaehn remains board president, Kristin Beck remains board vice president, Deb Larson is clerk and Troy Asher is now the board treasurer.

Committee assignments did not change - Steve Tart and Asher will be on the finance and facility committee, which now meets at 6 p.m. the first Monday of each month instead of at 5:30 p.m., Gwen Howard and Larson on the curriculum and personnel committee, meeting the second Monday of each month at 5 p.m., and Plaehn and Beck on policy and public relations, meeting the fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m. Community education coordinator Becky Bicknese will also serve on the public relations committee.

Subcommittee assignments placed Larson as legislative liaison and on the meet and confer committee, Beck as Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), systems accountability and Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) representative, Asher on the standards and discipline committee, Howard on special needs and cable access, Tart on the transportation, vocational and agricultural committees, Plaehn on the labor committee and Tom Speltz as activity director.

District negotiations will be handled by Plaehn, Tart and Beck - Plaehn and Beck will navigate superintendent and district-wide negotiations, and Tart and Plaehn will deal with principal and administration and classified negotiations.
