Kingsland is in the midst of celebrating Homecoming 2012 this week. The theme this year is "It's Showtime!"

Coronation of the king and queen was held Monday in the high school gym, after the press deadline for this edition.

On Tuesday high school students dressed up like their favorite super heroes and the younger students wore hats to school. There was also a student assembly for high school students early in the morning.

Today (Wednesday) the high school students will dress up as a character from "The Wizard of Oz" and middle school students will dress up for "Wacky Day." The elementary students will dress in color code by grade level.

On Thursday high school students will celebrate "Gladiator" day and dress as gladiators or in togas. The middle school students will dress in pajamas and the elementary students will wear their shirts backwards.

On Friday, all students will show their school pride by wearing silver and black. At 2 p.m. students will gather for a "pep fest" assembly in the gym and the homecoming parade will begin at 4:15 p.m. The parade is hosted by the Kingsland Athletic Booster Club and anyone interested in having a float in the parade should contact Stacey Rath at 507-273-8470.

A tailgate party by the junior class parents will take place following the parade at the football field for the public.

The Wall of Honor spaghetti dinner is at 5 p.m. in the Kingsland Cafe and the program will begin at 6 p.m., honoring U.S. Federal Judge Donovan Frank's induction to Kingsland's Wall of Honor for 2012.

The homecoming football game with Kingsland facing off against Southland will begin at 7 p.m. at the high school. The Kingsland Athletic Booster Club will be handing out yellow glow-in-the-dark necklaces during the game.

The dance, to begin at 9:30 p.m. at the high school, will conclude homecoming 2012 festivities.
