The Love Lights a Tree annual celebration will be held this Sunday, Nov. 25, 5 p.m. at the Tourist Information Center in Spring Valley.
The event is a way of bringing community focus on cancer. One can purchase a luminaria for $10 or three for $25. The donation to Love Lights a Tree will assure one that a luminaria will glow in honor of someone who is fighting cancer, has fought cancer in the past, or in memory of someone who lost the battle.
Also, one can light a luminaria for anyone else that has died that one would like remembered.
During the event, the tree will be lit and reading of the names of gift givers and those remembered will take place. Hot cider will also be served.
The money that is collected will stay in Spring Valley to be used to pay for mileage for those going through treatment and for other supplies that patients may need that they are unable to financially afford. This is one way people can help those in need of such services.
Donations can be sent to or dropped off at Loretta Ascheman's, 810 Crestwood Ct., Spring Valley, or at Jan Peterson's, 416 Sherman, Spring Valley.
