Jill Klepper is defining health three doors up.

She's also continuing to build the snores.

"I felt I needed a change, and this might be a great way to build my business. Change is good...another way to continue building my clientele," said massage therapist Klepper, who originally started her massage therapy studio in Chateau de Chic Salon in downtown Spring Valley but has relocated to Total Look, a salon just three doors up.

She has named her business "Salud," which "means 'health,' and I have 'massage for the mind, body and soul,' which gives wellness of the mind, body and soul," she explained.

Klepper offers Swedish, pregnancy, hot stone and geriatric massage, myofacial release, body wraps and facials at her massage studio because she still enjoys care giving, even if she is no longer a nurse, an occupation she held before working full-time at True Value Hardware, now reopening on the corner of Pleasant Avenue and Tracy Road after two years of recovery from a fire at its downtown location. She noted that while most people might think that massage is "fluff and puff" pampering, it has benefits for body and mind.

"There are so many benefits to massage - it lowers blood pressure, improves circulation, range of motion, reduces stress and anxiety, is great for fibromyalgia and chronic pain, helps lengthen muscles, gets all the kinks and knots worked out," she said. "Anybody, from pediatric to geriatric, can benefit from it. More often than not, when I have someone on the table, they fall asleep. If they fall asleep, it's a compliment...it means they're enjoying their massage."

The move to Total Look has afforded her the opportunity to meet people from Spring Valley and surrounding towns who understand that massage relieves stress and tension. "I've been really busy - I've added 12 new clients - and I love my new studio. It's really nice here. I enjoy the atmosphere, the people are really fun, and there's a different clientele. It's nice to keep my existing clientele and see new faces."

Since she's relocated, she'd like the community to know that she's "still readily available for the same services" whenever a client needs to relax. "I'm available by appointment seven days a week, whenever it works for their schedule. If someone wants a Sunday appointment, I'll be here for a Sunday appointment. It's very relaxing for me to work in a quiet place like this. I love my office...it's the most relaxing in the whole downtown."

Klepper's therapy prices start at $30 per half hour and vary according to service, but there's no extra charge for those who fall asleep on her table and saw away some compliments, and Salud gift certificates are available at both the salon and True Value Hardware.
