The annual Ag Days race had a new distance and a new course, but the winners were familiar faces as Dallas Davidson was once again the top male and Toni Kolling was the top female in the Ag Days 6k trail race.

It was also another record field as 93 people signed up for the race and 91 crossed the finish line. Last year, 87 people signed up for the 5k course in town, which was up from the 57 that registered in 2011.

Davidson of Spring Valley crossed the finish line in 21:03, at a pace of 5:39 per mile on the challenging 3.72 mile course that had rolling hills, crossing Spring Valley Creek three times. His pace in last year's five-kilometer, or 3.1-mile, race was 5:35.

Richard Swanson of Spring Valley came in second with a time of 21:40 and Kolling was the third finisher with a time of 22:40. Ryan Swanson was the third male with a time of 24:21, while Amber Uhlenhake was the second woman, and 11th overall, with a time of 26:44 and Sarah Warren was the third woman with a time of 26:53.

The course this year started on County Road 8 for about 400 feet before hitting the Spring Valley trail the entire rest of the way to the finish line in Willow Park. The new Little Husker 1k run for kids was held after the adult run on the trail around Willow Park.

There were some glitches with the new venue as an aid station wasn't on the trail and it was confusing at the finish with hundreds of kids, parents and grandparents for the Little Husker. However, most runners liked the new route.

Next year, the entire trail will be paved as there were a couple areas of gravel on a portion that is unfinished. The city had a new bridge installed this year so the final leg of the course could go under Highway 16 into Willow Park.
