Only one candidate
files for SV office so far

Just one person - incumbent council member Tony Archer - had filed for office in Spring Valley as of Tuesday noon.
The filing period for persons interested in running for public office in Spring Valley in 2014 runs through Tuesday, June 3.
Municipal candidates must file with their municipal clerk. In Spring Valley, the terms of Todd Jones and Tony Archer are up for election as is the mayoral position now held by Jim Struzyk. Council terms are four years and the mayor's term is two years.
This election year, Minnesota voters will head to the polls to decide a U.S. Senate seat, all U.S. House seats, as well as governor and other state constitutional officers, and all Minnesota House seats. The 2014 election will also include many county commissioners, county sheriffs, county attorneys, auditors, treasurers and recorders.
Primary Election Day is Aug. 12, and General Election Day is Nov. 4.
