Preparation for the construction of a new medical clinic in Spring Valley moved to the Spring Valley City Council Monday evening.

Spring Valley Senior Living intends to build a 14,055 square foot building that will house a medical clinic for Olmsted Medical Center along with room for an outpatient therapy clinic and post acute nursing facility to be located at 800 Memorial Drive where the facility is now located. Olmsted Medical Center now operates a clinic down the street from Spring Valley Senior Living on Tracy Road.

The reason the proposal went before the council is that the project needed to have approval for refinancing of a revenue note from 2006. The Department of Employment and Economic Development has given its support for the project, noting that it meets state requirements.

A hearing was set for Monday night, but the council met after this week's edition of the Tribune went to press. Look for more details in next week's Tribune.
