Steven Chihak is a new conversation officer assigned to the Spring Valley field office.
He is one of nine new conservation officers with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on the job following 16 weeks of field training. All have previous law enforcement experience.
"Through their training, they've proven that they have the desire, the skill and the professionalism to uphold the laws and regulations to protect and preserve Minnesota's natural resources," said Col. Jim Konrad, DNR Enforcement Division director._
The 16-week field training follows graduation last October from the 12-week Conservation Officer Academy at Camp Ripley. During field training the recruit is paired with an experienced conservation officer to gain on-the-job training for natural resources management and law enforcement-related activities before receiving their initial field station assignment.
