Two market information meetings have been set in April as the Spring Valley Growers Market prepares to open May 1.

The meetings are at noon on Saturday, April 14 and 21, at the market site, which is located on Highway 63 next to Grafix on the Go. All growers, crafters and artists are encouraged to attend at least one of these meetings. This will be a good time to submit applications and fees if participants that have not already done so, said manager Barb Smith.

Anyone who has not submitted an application and check/money to Smith by the May 1 deadline will not be able to participate in the market this year. Make checks out to the Spring Valley Grower's Market - Barb Smith and mail to her at Grafix on the Go, 201 E. Main, Spring Valley, MN 55975.

Essig Agency in Spring Valley is putting together an insurance policy for the Spring Valley Growers Market. It will be in place by May 1.

Hours for the market are every Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sellers/vendors/crafters work as many hours during that period as they choose, said Smith.

Growers Market vendors are invited to join the Eliza Jane Market on Saturday, May 19, as guests. Vendors are invited to move over to the Spring Creek Park location for that one day. That market is being held in conjunction with the Almanzo 100 bike race and other activities during Wilder Fest weekend.

Each individual vendor is to decide on his or her own. Anyone planning to join the one-day special market should contact Kathy Simpson at tymflion@harmony.net and let her know or stop out for lunch at A & W and talk to her.

Also, Smith will be speaking to the Kiwanis Club at noon on April 18 as the local service organization has invited her to come and do a presentation on the Growers Market.
