"I'm not retired yet," said Doug Snyder owner of Doug Snyder Agency, though he is sporting a new location and a new partnership.
Jeff Stevenson, Doug Snyder and Jim Hamm stand outside Snyder’s new office building, located on the corner of Gold and Carimona Streets with an entrance on Carimona Street.
Snyder, who has been in business since 1980, has teamed up with Jeff Stevenson, of Kasson, and Jim Hamm, of St. Charles, and their company, Stevenson Insurance.
Snyder and Stevenson previously worked together at Spring Valley Mutual. They decided to merge their agencies, which became official on Sept. 1 of last year.
"I think the partnership has worked real well all the way around," Snyder conveyed. "I've had real good comments from the majority of my clients."
Stevenson agreed, "With technology now we're only one button away from any information we need, so it is much easier than it would have been years ago."
The merger has the benefit of opening up to more markets and having a larger support staff to help. All this enables them to find the best fit for their customers.
In November, Snyder moved his business into the top floor of the former Gold Street Pizza Building on the corner of Gold Street and Carimona Street.
But with Mary Sackett's business, Margaret's Tea Room and Gifts, formerly Bank Gift Haus, moving in, he has relocated again just down the stairs to his new quarters. He can be found just around the corner from the main entrance of the tea room.
"It's going to help us; she (Sackett) is going to get a lot of foot traffic that will help us and our foot traffic will help her," Stevenson said of the pairing. Though her delicious treats may cause a bit of a sweet tooth issue!
Overall, the men are excited to continue their work to provide service to the area.
