A duly posted regular meeting of the Board of Education, Independent School District No. 2137 was held in the Kingsland District Conference Room on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

Board Chair Doug Plaehn called the meeting to order. Present: Kristin Beck, Deb Larson, Doug Plaehn, Steve Tart and Al Williams. Absent: Peggy Merkel.

Beck moved to approve the following consent items: the board agenda, the minutes from the regular meeting on May 21, 2012, the June bills, the first reading of Policies 614, 615, 624, 701, 701.1, 702 and 703, the second reading of Policies 607, 608, 609, 611, 612.1 and 807. Larson seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Board member Plaehn reported on the Finance/Facilities Committee, Larson reported on the Policy/PR Committee and Beck reported on the Curriculum/Personnel Committee. Superintendent McDonald, Principal Hecimovich, Building & Grounds Director John Dols and Business Manager Kathy Beevers submitted written reports.

Beck moved to approve the resignation of Eli Hill as Industrial Tech teacher and Robotics advisor. Williams seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Larson moved to approve the resignation of Amanda Schwarck as Art teacher and Key Club advisor. Tart seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Williams moved to approve the resignation of Jacob Dodge as Assistant Principal/Athletic Director. Beck seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Larson moved to approve the resignation of Bruce Rohne as Senior Class advisor. Beck seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Beck moved to approve the resignation of Jeremy Tesch as B-squad baseball coach. Larson seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Beck moved to hire Andrew Brouwer as Industrial Tech teacher for 2012-13. Larson seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Williams moved to hire Gareld Stockdale as bus driver. Tart seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Beck moved to hire Jill Thalmann as .5 additional weight training coach. Williams seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Larson moved to hire Mollie McMahon as .5 additional weight training coach. Beck seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Tart moved to approve the Resolution Establishing Dates for Filing Affidavits of Candidacy. Williams seconded. Roll Call - Aye - Beck, Larson, Plaehn, Tart and Williams. Nay - None. Absent - Merkel. Motion carried unanimously. The resolution is on file in the district office.

Beck moved to approve the 2011-12 revised capital outlay budget as presented. Tart seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Williams moved to approve the 2012-13 budgets as presented. Beck seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Beck moved to approve the Handbooks for first readings. Larson seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

The next regular board meeting will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room. A special board meeting will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 7:00 a.m. in the District Office Conference Room to approve the remaining open staff positions.
