A duly posted organizational meeting of the Board of Education, Independent School District No. 2137 was held in the Kingsland District Conference Room on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Doug Plaehn called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present: Troy Asher, Kristin Beck, Gwen Howard, Deb Larson, Doug Plaehn, and Steve Tart.

The first order of business was to elect the Board Chair. Beck nominated Doug Plaehn for Board Chair. Larson seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Chairperson Plaehn called for Vice Chair nominations. Howard nominated Asher. Larson nominated Beck. Beck was nominated Vice Chair upon a 4-2 ballot vote.

Beck nominated Larson for Clerk. Asher seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Tart nominated Asher for Treasurer. Larson seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

The following Sub-Committees were set into place:

LMC/Meet & Confer - Deb Larson

MSHSL - Kristin Beck

Standards/Discipline - Troy Asher

Early Childhood/Community Ed - Kristin Beck

Special Needs - Gwen Howard

Vocational Ag - Steve Tart

Labor - Doug Plaehn

Pupil Transportation - Steve Tart

Legislative Liaison - Doug Plaehn

Designated School Rep - Tom Speltz

Systems Accountability - Kristin Beck

Cable Access - Gwen Howard

Negotiations (Sup't/District Wide) - Doug Plaehn & Kristin Beck

Negotiations (Principals) - Doug Plaehn & Troy Asher

Negotiations (Classified) - Doug Plaehn & Troy Asher

Beck moved to accept the time and dates of the committee meetings. Asher seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Howard moved to restructure the sub-committee meetings as follows:

Finance/Facilities - 1st Monday - 6:00 p.m. - Asher & Tart

Curriculum/Personnel - 2nd Monday - 5:00 p.m. - Howard & Larson

Policy & PR - 4th Monday - 6:00 p.m. - Plaehn & Beck

Moved by Beck, seconded by Tart to assign the personnel and curriculum committee to hear the Level III Grievance and report its findings and recommendations to the School Board at the January 22nd Board Meeting. Motion carried unanimously.

Commitee Meeting dates are as posted:

Finance/Facility - February 3 - 6:00 p.m.

Curriculum/Personnel - January 13 - 5:00 p.m.

Policy/PR - January 27 - 6:00 p.m.

The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the District Office Conference Room.

Beck moved to adjourn the meeting. Tart seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
