Area school districts compete in wellness challenge

Southeast Service Cooperative (SSC) is coordinating a walking challenge between 25 of its member organizations. Seventeen southeastern Minnesota school districts and eight city and county members are participating in two separate challenges.
Locally, Fillmore Central, Grand Meadow, Kingsland, Le-Roy-Ostrander and Rushford-Peterson are participating.
This is the third year the SSC has been coordinating the contests, which run the month of January, and are based on the number of steps walked by participating members. Steps are turned in weekly to each site's coordinator who in turn sends the steps to SSC. A trophy and an article in SSC's newsletter, The Cooperative Connection, will be awarded to the top placing school district.
Plainview-Elgin-Millville Wellness Coordinator Marcia Schultz shared "I love the new year. A fresh start is always what I need after the craziness of the holidays. The challenge is perfect timing to get our staff moving toward their goals!"
The winning teams will be announced on Monday, Feb. 3.
Southeast Service Cooperative is a public, non-profit cooperative of over 70 schools, local government and non-profits to maximize resources and increase value through collaboration.
