The Kingsland School Board and administration are cheering for the Kingsland Athletic Booster Club (KABC) after KABC presented the athletics and activities department with a roundup of its spring and summer contributions totaling $23,000 ... an amount that keeps the runners on track, the footballers on the field and the baseball players scoring home runs.

KABC member Stacey Rath noted that the club has been busy all summer and "since March, has given Kingsland Schools almost $23,000 in donations ... we're pretty excited."

She elaborated, "We've given $5,000 for the baseball field scoreboard, $9,000 for the coaches' wish list, which includes a variety of equipment, over $7,200 in bingo donations, $300 in activity fee scholarships, $500 in Gatorade for spring sports and $700 for team camps."

Additionally, KABC is busy getting ready for Kingsland's homecoming, including organizing the parade. Also, the club is creating a spirit committee that, according to Rath, "will be made up of KABC members and students. "We want this group of students to promote school spirit by assisting with pep fests, making signs for the gym, helping with homecoming and showing their spirit at games," she said.

The committee will meet once school starts and it will have its own budget. "We have eight students already interested in the committee and we're planning on continuing our Spirit Awards as well," Rath concluded.

KABC's membership has changed, as elections of officers were recently held - the new president of KABC is Pat Pokorney, who replaces Corey Marzolf. Kammy Fenske remained as secretary and Chari Kruegel will continue as treasurer.
