The boys' team earned its first win of the season, defeating the Gophers but falling to the home Falcons. The girls' team wasn't able to get a win in either of the two meets, although they missed out on beating the Gophers by only nine strokes.
The girls' team was led by senior Karli Bly, whose round of 49 was good enough to make her a medalist in the meet against the Gophers and one shy of earning her the same title in the meet against the Falcons. Megan Back shot the next lowest round for the Knights with a 69 while Morgan Zwart finished one shot behind her with a 70. Audrey Farlinger rounded out the qualifying scores for Kingsland with an 82. Fillmore Central got the best of both the Knights and the Gophers, shooting a 199 as a team. Kingsland's 261 was only nine strokes shy of the Gophers, which finished with a 270.
Simon Broadwater shot the lowest round of the day for the Knight boys' team with a 45, which made him a medalist in the meet against the Gophers. Alek Kohn followed Broadwater, penciling in a 57 on his scorecard. Coming in one stroke behind Kohn was Scott Lechner, who shot a 58. Tyler Ruesink had the fourth and final qualifying score for Kingsland, which was a 60. The Knights finished with a cumulative score of 220, which was good enough to beat the Gophers by six strokes. The Falcons, however, shot an impressive 162 as a team and thus defeated the Knights.
The golf teams were scheduled to continue their seasons on Monday with a meet in Adams at Cedar River Golf Course where the Knights will face the Southland Rebels. Kingsland will then host the Chatfield Gophers for a home meet at Root River Country Club on Tuesday. Then, on Thursday, the girls' team will participate in a tournament held at Willow Creek Golf Course. Finally, the Knights will close the week with another home meet, this one against Southland.
