This past week the Kingsland Knights boys basketball team split a pair of games, losing a Three Rivers Conference game with Lewiston-Altura, 77-64, and downing Pine Island in a non-conference match-up, 67-48.
Spencer Klevan goes in for two points for the Knights against Lewiston.
Leading the way against the Cardinals was Tanner Lange. Lange had 26 points and seven steals in the TRC loss. The Knights are now 11-4 in conference play.
Spencer Klevan was also in double-figures with 15. He also had five steals and three blocked shots. Rounding out the scoring: Soren Grandall (8), Marshall Oeltjen (3), Devin Pokorney (6), Josh Thompson (3), Jacob Rindells (2) and Da'Shon Funches (3).
"As a team that has had some success this year, we have a target on our back. And each game we must bring our A game. Unfortunately, against L-A, we didn't do this. We lacked intensity and allowed them to control the tempo (of the game)," said coach Paul Eckheart.
Pokorney scored 21 points as the Knights bounced back with a win on Saturday. Sam Eberle was back in the line-up for the Knights and hit for 19. Tanner Lange was also in double-figures with 17. Also scoring were Grandall (3), Oeltjen (3), Klevan (3) and Thompson (1).
The floor game was led by Lange (six assists), Eberle (seven steals) and Klevan (5 blocks/seven rebounds).
"We played our type of game in the second half and controlled the floor," said Eckheart. "We are still working on our consistencies, on both ends of the floor."
This week's games include games at Chatfield Monday and Wabasha-Kellogg Tuesday, which were played after this edition went to press and a home game Thursday against Dover-Eyota. The Knights end the regular season next week with home games against Southland Tuesday and Rushford-Peterson Thursday.
