An injury-hampered Erica Earley ran first for the Kingsland girls, finishing the 4,000 meters in 24th place, and a time of 18:12.2, in the Three Rivers Conference cross country meet last week at Chatfield.

Checking her performance a couple times during the race, you could see the pain Earley was enduring by her facial expression.
Melinda Woods was just six seconds off her best and finished 31st, 18:38.2. The other gals running the varsity race were Andrea Mettler (35th, 18:51.5), Jocelyn Voeltz (37th, 19:04.1), Marina Schwanke (46th, 20:15.4), Gretchen Corson (49th, 20:37.1) and Jamie Thompson (52nd, 21:08.6).
Hunter Meisner was the top guy for the Knights, finishing the 5,000 meters in 19:6.0, and 38th place. Zachary Buchholtz was second for Kingsland, 20:34.2, 42nd. Rounding out the other Kingsland runners: Dane Gillespie (46th, 21:07.1), Adam Buchholtz (52nd, 21:45.5), Michael Willford (54th, 22:22.1), Thomas Mettler (56th, 24:00.4) and Scott Lechner (58th, 24:54.0).
The guys finished ninth of nine teams and the girls were eighth.
"Audrey (Farlinger) was the huge success of the night," said coach Amber Uhlenhake, "as she stepped up to the full 4K and ran her fastest ever, dropping 95 seconds off her previous lifetime best." Farlinger ran in the JV race, but bettered a few of the times of some of the varsity runners. An upbeat, and optimistic, coach reported that Andrea Mettler, Voeltz and Thompson also bettered their season bests, or PR's.
Running in the JV boys' race were Alex Campbell (38th, 25:30.3), Logan O'Connell (41st, 27:53.6) and James Hayes-Hall (42nd, 27:54.2).
Thursday the varsity runners will be competing in the Section 1A meet, at Northern Hills Golf Course, Rochester. The guys run at 4 p.m., followed by the girls race, 4:45 p.m.
