Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Kingsland ran into a tough Plainview-Elgin-Millville team Friday at Plainview and came away with a 56-15 loss.

"I thought we would be more competitive than we showed on this night," said GMLOK coach Bill Simpkins. "We got pinned too many times in matches we were in, and lost matches in the third period that we were ahead in. As a coach, I don't think I had our guys as prepared as they should have been against a team as strong as PEM."

One standout performance for GMLOK, though, occurred in the first match of the night. Brenn Olson pinned Reed Defrang in 1:05 at 106 lbs. Last year, Defrang beat Olson, so it was quite a turnaround.

"It was a nice win for him to start the year off," said Simpkins.

The other two winners were Blake Benson who won by a 9-4 decision at 220 lbs. over Isaac Breuer and Wyatt Richardson, who won by fall in 3:55 over Dustin Finley at 285 lbs.

Results for the other weights: GMLOK lost by forfeit at 113 lbs.; Josh Graves lost by decision 2-7 to Chase Defrang; at 126, Stephen Kassel lost by major decision 0-8 to Sam Ebin of PEM; GMLK lost by forfeit at 132 and 138 lbs.; at 145 lbs., Jace Bunne lost by fall in 5:44 to Ryan Kottschade of PEM; at 152 lbs., Hale Parker lost by 5-7 decision to Greg Stucky of PEM. Blake Olson lost by major decision 8-0 at 160 lbs. to Thomas Miller of PEM; at 170 lbs., Sam Roe lost by fall in 2:52 to Brenton Ring of PEM; Brandon Turner lost by fall in 2:33 to Elijah Turner of PEM at 18s lbs.; Connor Hartson lost by fall in 2:33 at 190 lbs. to Bradley Schultz of PEM.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to take on another powerful team Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Chatfield. Then on Saturday, they participate in the annual holiday tournament at Fillmore Central.
