Kingsland fell to Sioux Central 48-30 in Byron last week as part of an extended holiday tournament.

Sioux Central, located in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, has played in the tourney with Byron and Kingsland for several years. A fourth team backed out, so Sioux Central played both Byron and Kingsland last weekend. Kingsland will travel to Byron in January to finish the tournament.

Marissa Bornholdt led the Knights in scoring with 15 points. Haley Colton added four, followed by Melinda Woods, Lacey Schwarz and Jamie Thompson with three each, and Kailynn Hamersma with two.

Woods had 10 assists to lead the Knights while Hannah Ramaker contributed four. Thompson led the team with five steals.

Kingsland began Three Rivers Conference play Tuesday with a home game against Fillmore Central. Thursday, the Knights travel to Caledonia and Saturday they are back home in a nonconference contest against Lake City. Game time for the Lake City game is 4 p.m., with the boys to follow in the second game of a doubleheader. Next Tuesday, Dec. 10, they travel to Chatfield.
