The Kingsland golf teams wrapped up their regular season schedule last week with a pair of meets on Monday and Tuesday and began postseason play on Thursday at the Three Rivers Conference meet.
Monday's meet was a triangular event held at Root River Country Club in which the Knights competed against both the Dover-Eyota Eagles and the Caledonia/Spring Grove Warriors. The Kingsland boys and girls teams were able to defeat the Eagles but both fell to the Warriors.
The girls' team finished with a total score of 282 and was led by Karli Bly, who fired a 53. She was followed by Megan Back's 63. Audrey Farlinger shot the next lowest round for the Knights, penciling a 74 on her scorecard. The fourth and final qualifying score for Kingsland was recorded by Morgan Zwart, who shot a 92.
On the boys' side, the Knights shot a 235 as a team and were led by Simon Broadwater's 51. The next lowest round came from Tyler Kappers, who shot a 53. Jordan Pokorney and Scott Lechner rounded out the Knights' scores, finishing one stroke apart with rounds of 65 and 66, respectively.
On Tuesday the Knights hosted the boys and girls conference champions, the Fillmore Central Falcons. Both Kingsland teams lost to the Falcons in their final meets of the regular season.
The lady Knights shot a total score of 294 and was led by Karli Bly's 52. Megan Back finished just three strokes behind her with a 55. The next lowest score for Kingsland was shot by Audrey Farlinger, who shot an 88. Morgan Zwart shot the fourth qualifying score for the Knights, penciling in a 99 on her scorecard.
Tyler Kappers led the boys' team with his 55 as the team finished with a total score of 246. Simon Broadwater finished one stroke behind him with his 56. Jordan Pokorney and Scott Lechner again rounded out the Knights scores by finishing within a stroke of each other, this time recording scores of 67 and 68, respectively.
In the Three Rivers Conference meet, which was held at the 18-hole, par-71 Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester, both Knights teams were short in numbers due to the senior class trip. The boys' team was limited to three competitors while the girls' team didn't participate at all.
Of the three Knights to play in the meet, Simon Broadwater led the way shooting 47s on both the front and back nine for a total of 94. The next lowest round was recorded by Tyler Kappers, who shot a 110. Scott Lechner contributed the third and final score for Kingsland, which finished in last place due to its lack of competitors, with his 117.
The Kingsland golf teams will continue postseason play on Tuesday when they will compete in the east sub-section meet held at Willow Creek Golf Course in Rochester.
