Sophomore Lacey Schwartz (second, 100m, :13.71), eighth grader Erica Earley (fourth, 1600m, 6:02.68), junior Marissa Bornholdt (seventh, 400m, 1:09.91) and senior DeAngilo Funches (third, long jump, 19'2.5") all scored points for the Knights at their first outdoor meet of the season at Winona last Monday, April 15.

As a team the Lady Knights scored 15 points and finished 11th of 14 teams. LaCrosse Central (181 points) won the meet, with Winona second (91.5). The boys scored six points and were 14th of 14 teams. Central (112.5) also won the boys division, with Cotter (82) second.

Also competing for the girls, or additional events for those already mentioned, with their events, were Marina Schwanke (100m, 400m, long jump), Nicole Lee (100m, long jump, 200m), Lacey Schwartz (400m, 200m), Yuluja Kuzmicheva (400m, long jump, 200m), Marissa Bornholdt (pole vault, 200m), and Erica Earley (3200m). The girls were "scratched" from some of the events listed for them, for whatever reason...including cold weather. When the sun went down on the Paul Gield Field track, the temperature went down, too, like below freezing!

Other events, and/or other participants for the boys, included...DeAngilo Funches (100m, triple jump), Josh Bradley (100m, 200m, 400m, long jump), Chase Ganser (100m, shot put, discus), Cody Krahn (200m, 400m, shot put, discus), Adam Buchholtz (800m, 1600m), Zach Buchholtz (1600m, 3200m), Alex Campbell (1600m), Ethan Cronk (shot put, discus), and Cole Beevers (shot put, discus). Again, some of the boys were pulled from some the events that they were listed for, due to a variety of reasons.

Coach Jim Hubka is looking forward to warmer weather, better conditions, and better times and distances for his athletes as we move into the "middle" of the season!
