This past Friday night the Kingsland football team lost to second place Chatfield (7-1) 48-20, and tonight (Wednesday) they face off against No. 1 Caledonia (7-0). Not only are the Warriors No. 1 in the Blue Division of the Southern Football Alliance, they are also the No. 1 ranked team in the state in Class AA.

The Knights were trailing Chatfield 48-0 when it went on a three touchdown run, cutting the final score to 48-20.

Senior Lenny Moore returned to the Kingsland line-up and scored two of the three Kingsland touchdowns, the final one with no time left on the clock. In addition to that 20 yard score, Moore had an eight-yard run earlier in the fourth quarter (6:54).

The Knights also scored on an eight-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Quinn Larson to junior Jacob Rindels. Rindels also returned to the Kingsland line-up after sitting out several weeks with an injury.

All total, Kingsland tallied 279 yards of offense, 169 yards passing and 110 yards on the ground. Moore was the workhorse in the rushing department, carrying the ball 27 times for 124 yards and the two scores. Larson carried the ball seven times for a minus 26 yards. A couple of Larson's carries were quarterback sacks. Jordan Meskill had two carries for two yards and Rindles had one carry for 10 yards.

Larson threw the ball 21 times, completing 11 of them for 169 yards. He had one touchdown and one interception. On the receiving end of the passes were Jordan Meskill (2, 7 yds), Isiah Bubany (3, 50 yds), Moore (3, 51 yds), Marcus Plaehn (2, 53 yds) and Rindels (1, 8 yds, 1 TD).

Key players on the special teams were Bubany (ko returns, 5/18.0), Rindels (kickoffs, 3/26.0; punting, 5/35.0) and Moore (punting, 2/32.0; punt returns, 1/10.0).

The football playoffs start Tuesday, Oct. 22. More likely than not, Kingsland will be on the road for the first round game.
