Lucas Roe wins 30th, Richardson also gets first at PI

The Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Kingsland Bulldogs entered five wrestlers in the Pine Island Tournament, placing four in the top five, and all five coming out with .500, or better, records.
Winning championships were Lucas Roe, 152 lbs., and Wyatt Richardson, 182 pounder. Both wrestlers went 3-0 in the tournament.
Sam Roe was fourth at 145 pounds and Bren Olson captured fifth at 106 lbs. Both had 2-2 records in the tournament. Not placing was Josh Graves (113 lbs.), but he also finished the tournament with a 2-2 record.
As a team, GMLOK finished eighth with 74.5 points. Kasson-Mantorville won the tournament with 297 points. Team results: K-M 297, Forest Lake 168, Pine Island 157.5, Roch. Mayo 126, Roch. Century 109.5, FCLMC 82, Burnsville 82, GMLOK 74.5, and Southland 42.

Olson (11-5) lost 15-0 (Isaac Haman, PI); bye; won by fall (Jared Larson, Century, 2:19); lost by fall (Nick Pastika, Century, 2:40); won by fall (Alex Hayes, Mayo, 3:51) for fifth place.
Graves (3-4) won 14-0 (Ty Glomski, Mayo); lost 18-5 (Ronnie Lyles, Century); won by fall (Matt Dahl, Burnsville, 3:29); lost 18-2 (Noah Eissinger, Southland).
Sam Roe (13-17) won 9-8 (Thomas Lillquist, Forest Lake); lost by fall (Branden Schorr, K-M, :14); won by fall (Trevor Barnes, FCLMC, 1:50); lost 11-1 (Elijah Hollins, Century) in the third place match.
Lucas Roe (30-2) won 17-2 (Sean Harrington, Burnsville); won 8-2 (Aaron Berge, K-M); won 9-1 (Brady Nelson, Mayo) for first place. The win in the championship match was Lucas' 30th of the season.
Richardson (25-7) won by fall (Hayden Sheeran, K-M, 5:45); won 3-1 (Harrison Barnes, K-M); won a 5-3 decision (Monty Holm, FCLMC) for the gold medal.
This week the Bulldogs finish up the regular season with a pair of dual meets: Tuesday, at home (L-O) with St. Charles, and Friday at Dover-Eyota.
Next week the section team tournament starts with first round matches on Thursday, Feb. 14, and the semi-finals and finals on Saturday, Feb. 16. Tournament action will be carried on KFIL, both Thursday and Saturday. The section individual tournament will be held on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22 and 23.
