Kingsland had one golfer advance to the Section 1A meet as the season winds down.

The Kingsland golf teams resumed regular season play on Monday in Caledonia, playing in a meet that was rescheduled after being postponed earlier in the spring. They then continued with postseason play as they competed in the sub-section meet held at Willow Creek Golf Course in Rochester on Tuesday.

In the regular season finale, the lady Knights competed against both the Caledonia/Spring Grove Warriors and the La Crescent Lancers. Their total team score of 232 was good enough to defeat the Lancers but not the Warriors, who shot a 208. Kingsland was led by Karli Bly, who shot the low round of the day amongst all girl competitors with her 44. She was followed by Megan Back's round of 60. Morgan Zwart checked in just one stroke behind Back with a 61. The final qualifying score for the Knights was shot by Audrey Farlinger, who fired a 67.

The Kingsland boys' team faced only the Warriors in the regular season's final meet, falling 206 to 199. Simon Broadwater shot the low round of the day for the Knights with a 47, which was tied with two Caledonia golfers for the low round of the meet. The second lowest round for Kingsland was shot by Tyler Ruesink, who shot a 54. Tyler Kappers and Scott Lechner rounded out the four qualifying scores for the Knights, as they shot 55 and 56, respectively.

In the sub-section meet, the girls' team didn't field enough golfers to qualify in the team decision, though they did have a golfer advance to the section meet as an individual. Karli Bly was the Knight to advance, as her 98, 45 on the front and 53 on the back, earned her a seventh place finish. The only other participant for Kingsland was Megan Back. She shot a 116, which was only two strokes away from moving on to the section meet.

The Kingsland boys' team finished sixth out of seven teams in the sub-section meet, as they finished with a combined score of 450. Ruesink shot the low round of the day for the Knights with a 103. He was followed by Broadwater, who shot a 108. Both fared much better on the back nine of the eighteen-hole course, shooting 47 and 49, respectively. Scott Lechner fired the next lowest round with his 113. The final qualifying score came from Jordan Pokorney, who shot a 126.

After advancing from the sub-section meet, Bly will play in the section meet at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester on Thursday. There she will look to shoot a low enough round to advance to the state tournament.
