Both Noah Schlee and Lucas Roe of GMLOK went 2-2 at the 2012 State Wrestling Tournament last weekend.

Schlee, 126 lbs., got a first round fall (3:35) over Reid Johnson (North Branch), but then lost 6-4 in overtime to Ben Henle, New London-Spicer, in the quarter-finals. Moving into the wrestle-backs, Schlee pinned Pierce Rothenbacker (Totino-Grace) in 1:29 and then lost to St. Paul Johnson's Keng Xiong, 5-2. One more win and the senior would have been into the "medals."

Lucas Roe, 152 lbs., had a similar chain of events, winning his first match, 7-0, over Lucas Schoen of Delano and then losing in the quarterfinals to Pat Hopkins of Grand Rapids, 4-1. In the wrestle-backs Roe beat Garth Ochsendorf (Dawson-Boyd/LQPV), 7-4, before losing his last match to Nathanael Holecek (Thief River Falls/Goodridge), 6-4. In that last match the GMLOK junior had a reversible, but after the referee consulted with the timer, it was determined that time had run out before Roe's last move, thus ending the season for Roe.

Roe finished the season with a 35-6 record and Schlee ended 2011-12 at 35-5.
