The 2012-2013 basketball season for the Kingsland girls basketball team is over, as the Knights lost in the first round of sub-section play to Rochester Lourdes, 47-39.

Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Jessi Kaster with 14 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Marissa Bornholdt had another good game, scoring 11, while pulling down six rebounds and gathering in three steals. Cheyenne Losey had a solid game with six points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists. Lizzie Tart, who has been a stalwart all season, was injured in the game and did not score. Junior Haley Colton came up with a half-dozen points and four assists, another fine floor game for her. Jamie Thompson rounded out the Knight scoring with a bucket and two points.

"We were ahead most of the second half, but Lourdes went on a run and we couldn't quite recover," said coach Jill Thalmann. "We took a big blow when Lizzie Tart was injured towards the beginning of the second half. It was a close game to the end, but Lourdes has much more playoff experience and it showed Thursday night."

In the last regular season game, the gals lost to Plainview-Elgin-Millville, 62-51. Cheyenne Losey ended the regular season with a bang, scoring 16 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Marissa Bornholdt was six for seven from the field and two for two from the line, turning in a fine 14 point performance. Melinda Woods and Lizzie Tart each had six points in the season finale. Haley Colton had a team high five assists.

Melinda Woods had the lone three-pointer for the Knights, as the team hit just one of 12 from long range.

The gals finished the regular season at .500, 13-13, and were also .500 in the Three Rivers Conference, at 10-10. Overall, the gals finished the season with a 13-14 record.
