There were only eight contested matches in the Caledonia vs. GMLOK dual meet last week, and each team won four. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs they had to forfeit five weight classes, losing the TRC matchup with the Warriors, 30-49. Caledonia forfeited the 132 lb. weight class.
If the scoring would have been done with just those eight classes, GMLOK would have won 24-19. Unfortunately you can't pick and choose which weight classes you want to wrestle in, or can wrestle in.
Getting wins for the Bulldogs were Parker Hale (145, fall), Brock Johnson (152, fall), Lucas Roe (160, fall) and Wyatt Richardson (182, fall). Blake Olson won by forfeit at 132 lbs. Wrestling, but losing their matches were Stephen Kassel (120, fall), Jace Bunne (126, dec.), Brandon Turner (170, fall) and Blake Benson (220, maj. dec.).
The Bulldogs forfeited at 106, 113, 138, 195 and 285.
The team also competed in the Stewartville Invitational Tournament, placing sixth out of nine teams. All eight wrestlers put on the mat for GMLOK scored points for the team. Place finishers in the tournament were Stephen Kassel (120, sixth), Jace Bunne (126, fourth), Blake Olson (132, third), Parker Hale (138, third), Sam Roe (145, sixth), Lucas Roe (160, first), Wyatt Richardson (182, first) and Blake Benson (195, fourth).
Lucas Roe was voted the Outstanding Wrestler in the tournament, winning his matches 18-3, 16-1 and 6-2 in the finals. In the finals he met the No. 1 ranked 160 pounder in Iowa, and won, avenging a 2012 loss in the same tournament.
