Karli Bly shot an 18-hole round of 89 and Megan Back had a round of 113, good enough to advance them both to the Section 1A Tournament, Tuesday, May 28, at Northern Hills, Rochester. Bly finished fourth in the sub-section tournament, just six shots short of the medalist Courtney Sill, Wabasha-Kellogg, who had a score of 83, and only two shots out of the runner-up spot.

Kingsland only had two golfers in the women's tournament, therefore not qualifying for any team honors. Wabasha-Kellogg won the team even with a score of 379. Lewiston-Altura had a team total of 389, and also qualified for the Section 1A team meet.

Wabasha-Kellogg also won the men's tournament with a score of 318. Kingsland's team finished seventh, 417.

Nick Niemeyer had the best score for the Knights. He shot a round of 93, missing the Section 1A cut by two strokes. Also golfing for the Kingsland boys were Simon Broadwater (105), Alek Kohn (106) and Tyler Kappers (113).

The top two teams and the next 10 golfers, not on either of the two teams, advance to the Section 1A tournament. The Lewiston-Altura girls are the defending state champions in Class 1A.
