Volleyball team has busy week; currently 4-6

Last week the Kingsland volleyball team had matches with Dover-Eyota (lost 3-2), Wabasha-Kellogg (lost 3-0) and participated in the Southland Tournament (won three, lost two). In the Southland Tournament the gals got win over Lyle/Pacelli (2-0), Medford (2-0) and Plainview-Elgin-Millville (2-0), while losing twice to Blooming Prairie (1-2, 0-2).
In the five set (games) loss to Dover-Eyota (25-22, 23-25, 21-25, 25-21, 11-15), Jessi Kaster and Sarah O'Connell led the team with 14 kills each. O'Connell was tops in hitting efficiency, .372, with only one error in 35 attacks. Cheyenne Losey had nine kills and a hitting efficiency of .368.
Top servers against the Eagles were Lizzie Tart (17/17), Sarah O'Connell (6/6), Brianna Musel (20/21), Gabriel Drees (17/18) and Cheyenne Losey (16/18). Losey had three ace serves. Tart had 35 of the team's set assists. Kaster led the team with two ace blocks. Kaylee Beevers had 1.5 blocks.
Tops in serve receives (SR) were Jessi Kaster (17/23), Brianna Musel (8/12), Haley Colton (7/11), Rialie Fenske (10/16), Gabriel Drees (9/11) and Sarah O'Connell (8/12).
"We started out OK," said coach Lisa Kimball, "but seemed to lay back the rest of the way, forcing us to fight from behind most of the night. Definitely will need to be more aggressive in our coverages in our upcoming matches."
Tuesday night the Knights hosted St. Charles and Thursday they will travel to Lewiston-Altura.
