As a kick-off event, Help Our Neighbors (HON), in partnership with the Chatfield High School Service Club and the Root River Rabbits 4-H Club, are offering a leaf raking service to local senior citizens on Sat. Oct 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. To register call HON at 251-0520. Seniors are asked to provide their own plastic bags for city pick-up on Oct. 22.
Help Our Neighbors is a newly formed community wide effort whose goal is to partner with senior adults so that they may stay in their own home longer. Amy Becker will be the director of HON beginning in early October. At that time, Help Our Neighbor will move toward providing services such as light to medium home chores, transportation, respite care, and chronic disease and falls prevention education through trained volunteers and partner organizations for a fee based on a sliding scale. Help Our Neighbors (HON) is supported, in part, by a CS/SD grant from, Department of Human Services (DHS).
Later in October or early November we will be having a Health Resource Fair in cooperation with Olmsted Medical Center.
