The 11th annual "Chatfield Chill Fest" celebration be held on Saturday,

Jan. 26t, in Chatfield. This year's Chill Fest is being hosted by the

Chatfield Lions Club. "The celebration will have many events in Mill Creek

Park and Groen Park along with other events occurring throughout Chatfield,"

stated Chill Fest organizer Matt Opat.

One of the highlights of the "Chill Fest" celebration is the annual

Polar Plunge to be held at Mill Creek Park. There will be a change this

year in the Polar Plunge in that it will be a fund raiser benefiting St.

Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The project is being chaired by Dean

Irish and Jay Hanson. They encourage everyone to pick up pledge forms and

waivers that are available at Dave's Barber Shop in Chatfield. The forms

can also be picked up on the city of Chatfield's website. Plungers are

encouraged to obtain pledges in hopes of raising funds for St. Jude's

Children's Research Hospital. The plunge will take place at 2 p.m. sharp at

Mill Creek Park at County Road 2 bridge.

A new event this year is a Health Fair being sponsored by Olmsted

Medical Center and Help Our Neighbors (HON). This event will be held at St.

Mary's Catholic Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all are encouraged to


The day will also include a Bunco Party sponsored by the Women's

Community Club at 3 p.m. at the Thurber Building. Further, there will be a

Chili Supper and a chili and salsa contest at the Presbyterian Church from

4:30 to 6:30 p.m. A craft sale will also be held as part of the Chili


The Bluff Country Hiking Club will be hosting a Candlelight Snow Shoe

Walk from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Those interested in taking the Snow Shoe Walk

should meet at the Groen Park shelter at 5:30 p.m.

At 6 p.m., Cold Cash Bingo will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The Chosen Bean Concert series will feature the Eelpout Stringers at

7:30 p.m. at the Chatfield Center for the Arts - Legion Room. Tickets are

$15 at the door. Further information on this concert can be obtained at the

The "Chill Fest" celebration will once again be fun for the entire
