This year the Chatfield Lions Club Western Day Hog Raffle was a huge success. It was the top fundraising year ever.

Mike Tuohy had the honor of drawing the winning tickets during the intermission of Brad Boice’s concert in the park on Sunday afternoon of Western Days.

Winners were Vonnie Aug of Preston, $100; Erwin Frederichs of Chatfield, $200; and Greg Easler, 200-pound live hog. Easler elected to have $300 delivered to his front door, rather than a 200-pound live hog.

The monies raised from this fundraiser go to support the many hundreds of dollars the Chatfield Lions Club distributes in local and global service. Projects include the Special Olympics, Can-Do-Canines, Leader Dogs and Diabetes Foundation. The club also provides local scholarships and supports local school projects and activities such as giving dictionaries to school children, supporting the post prom and more. Lions support community projects such as the local library, Western Days, fundraisers and tournaments.

If one would like to join the local Lions Club in serving the community, one is welcome to a meeting at any time.

The club meets on the fourth Saturday of the month at 8 a.m. at the Chatfield United Methodist Church, 124 Winona Street SE, Chatfield.

One may call or email Ed Harris, club secretary, with questions about the club at or call (507) 867-3265.
