Glennys Worden's space venture expanded, just so.

"It's just the space and having more crafters...I like having a larger variety of things in the store," said Worden. She is the proprietor of Just So, "the little shop near the corner" which opened inside a storefront of the former Kelly's Place on the southwest corner of Main Street in Chatfield. The shop has grown to occupy not only the original little shop, but also the more spacious former Jonathan's/Kelly's Place building to the north, with which it shares a front entrance.

While she first opened "Just So" in the small storefront in October - with the intention of remaining there only through Christmas - Worden changed her mind by the end of the month and rented the rest of the building in November, determined to give the business opportunity a try because she'd had initial success and enjoyed chatting with people perusing the selection for gifts and treats.

She noted that she spends her day at the back of the shop, stitching and mending coats, pants, formal dresses and other clothing while waiting for customers to stop in, always keeping busy no matter the time of day, though also always watching for new items to add to the craft boutique.

Worden's bigger "little shop" offers her sewing skills and alterations, Avon, candy bouquets, doll repairs - including reconditioning hair, tightening limbs and piercing doll ears. The store also features items made by local vendors, such as handmade candles, wooden toys for both boys and girls, quilted items, doll clothing for Barbie and American Girl dolls, purses, pillows, fabric wreathes, flower arrangements, rhinestone and beaded jewelry. There are vinyl wall words, dishtowels and dishcloths, crocheted snowflake ornaments, placemats, candy bouquets, framed needlework, wind chimes and penny candy for the little folks who have that penny or two to spend on something sweet.

Now that she has more display space, Worden has added antique furniture, Depression glass, Red Wing crocks, scrapbooking supplies, vintage children's books, handmade Indiana Amish quilts, handmade goat soaps, crocheted afghans and more. The store has consigning crafts for 32 different vendors and crafters.

If visitors don't see what they'd like to buy, she encouraged them to "just ask" and there's a chance she can find the piece of china to round out a collector's set or that she can find the perfect gift to make everything "just so."

Just So, at 221 Main, is currently open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
