Chatfield Elementary School is pleased to welcome Erin Banks to its staff.
Erin Banks will be helping kindergarten and first grade students with their reading this year.
"I am the Reading Research teacher for kindergarten and first grade," said Banks, who will be assisting with the remedial reading program, or Reading Research, that uses social studies and science as vehicles through which students learn how to read or improve their reading skills.
Banks, who graduated summa cum laude from Concordia University in St. Paul with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education, is ready to join the Chatfield Elementary School staff and show her students how to master the difficulties of becoming literate.
"My philosophy is that every child can learn, and it is my goal to help every child reach his or her full potential while instilling into him or her a lifelong love of learning," she said. "I also believe that every child is unique in his or her learning styles and abilities with my instructional practices being reflective of that."
Banks lives in Wanamingo with her family, which includes her husband, Jeremy, and three children, Craig, Madelyn and Gabriella.
In her free time, Banks said she enjoys reading, gardening, baking and spending time with her family.
