The Chatfield Commercial Club is sponsoring its annual Lunch in the Park to raise money to fund post-secondary education for local seniors.

"It's a picnic lunch in the park, and we use it to raise funds for our senior scholarships," said Kari Cousineau, Chatfield Commercial Club member and co-organizer of the club's annual Lunch in the Park. The lunch will be held on Wednesday, July 16, in Chatfield's city park.

She stated the menu will feature a children's hot dog meal, but the club is still working to decide what the adult's meal will be, though she did promise a classic picnic lunch.

The club is hoping for a sunny, clear day for its fundraiser picnic.

Cousineau encouraged hungry diners to come to Lunch in the Park, then take in the evening's performance from "Songs of Hope" at Potter Auditorium.

"Hopefully, there will be good weather. It would be nice for people to get out and enjoy the park and support the scholarship fund. It would be great if people came out to eat lunch, then went to the concert later that night," she added.

The Chatfield Commercial Club recently held a family night in the park as another fundraiser to help the club award scholarships to graduating Chatfield High School seniors, and the club has plans to remain active throughout the summer with community events.

Cousineau invited anyone curious about upcoming activities to log onto the Commercial Club's Facebook page to learn more about its plans and other city events.

Lunch in the Park is set for Wednesday, July 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in city park. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3 for children.

In case of rain, the event will be held in the Chatfield fire hall, just across the park on Main Street. For more information, call Kari Cousineau at (507) 867-1605 or (507) 867-0181.
