Dan Wiemer will provide a watercolor class on "A Birch Tree Study" on Thursday, July 18, at the Chatfield Lutheran Church.

The Red Wing artist has been a fine artist and illustrator for over 25 years. He grew up in northern Illinois with a love of nature. He studied art and design at Iowa State University and received his bachelor of arts degree in graphic design in 1986. Following college, he worked at a Minneapolis design firm. Three years later he began his freelance career.

While his paintings adorn living rooms across the country, he also creates illustrations for many major companies. He is also a past president of the Minnesota Watercolor Society.

An art exhibit entitled "Chatfield's Got Art - Inspiring Seniors to Create" will be held following the class. Look for details of the event.

Wiemer shares techniques that make his exciting and innovative work recognized nationally and internationally. The class is appropriate for beginning and experienced artists and includes artist demonstrations, discussion and hands-on experience.

The class is being sponsored by Help Our Neighbors and Root River State Bank.

Help Our Neighbors is a non-profit organization formed in 2012, with a mission to help elderly residents remain in their homes with the help of home services.
