Help Our Neighbors holding second annual leaf rake
Wednesday, October 16, 2013 6:23 AM
Help Our Neighbors will be hosting its second annual leaf rake, free to senior citizens, on Saturday morning, Oct. 26.
Four service groups, the High School Student Service Club, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of Troop #43 and the 4-H group Root River Rabbits will rake leaves for area senior citizens who appreciate the service more than the students will ever know. Last year, the event provided many intergenerational connections for many students.
Organizer Sue Awes said, "We hope to have better weather than last year to rake and that the leaves will cooperate with us. This FREE service for senior citizens has been generously provided by the service groups in collaboration with Help Our Neighbors."
Help Our Neighbors is an organization serving Chatfield and the surrounding area to assist senior citizens with services in their homes that will help seniors stay independent longer. Help Our Neighbors provides other services such as local transportation as well as to Rochester, caregiver support, outdoor chores, light housekeeping and minor home repair. It also provides several exercise programs, health seminars, social events and a health resource fair coming in January during Chill Fest.
