Half pints, saddle up!
"The kids can get dressed up as princesses, cowboys, cowgirls, clowns, their favorite storybook character, wear their Halloween costumes, decorate their bikes strollers and wagons and be in the first-ever Western Days Kiddie Parade," said Chatfield Western Days Committee member Pam Bluhm.
She explained the event is slated for Friday, Aug. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Chatfield's City Park. It is just one of the many events being held during the 46th annual Western Days celebration.
Bluhm stated, "This is a chance for the kids to show off what they've got in their costume boxes, to get out and let people see just how cute they are. They can be what they want to be, and their parents can walk with them through the park."
The kids will line up by the Chatfield Center for the Arts, on the lawn, and will then proceed down the Main Street sidewalk to the park and the sidewalk that goes kitty-corner through the park.
"It's a great time for them to be in the parade because there's already entertainment going on," Bluhm said. "The carnival opens Friday night and families can come eat in the park, listen to two different bands, have a nice night out together."
Bluhm requested that participants' parents contact her before the evening of the parade so that each child receives a treat.
"There's no registration fee, but we would like to know how many kids are coming so we can plan how many treat bags to make," she added. "Registration isn't required, but it would be very helpful."
The Western Days Kiddie Parade is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 9, at 6:30 p.m. in Chatfield's City Park, with lineup set for 6:15 p.m. at the Chatfield Center for the Arts. For more information, or to register a child for the parade, call Pam Bluhm at the Chatfield News office at (507) 867-3870, or stop in at 220 S. Main St., Chatfield.
