2013 Girls State Tournament Highlights

History was made at the 2013 State Tournament this year. All the scores for the games are listed elsewhere, but individual achievements are not.
Carlie Wagner, who has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota, set, or tied. six tournament records this year. Friday night in the semi-final game against Mpls. Washburn, she tied her individual game record of 48 points. Saturday, in the championship game, no less, she broke her own individual game record by scoring 50 points, including the free throw that was the margin of victory for the Panthers against Braham.
She also has the record for most points in three games(129), breaking her own record of 112(set last year), field goal attempts in a single game(43), 110 attempts for three games, 48 field goals made in three games, and tied the field goals made(21) in a single game.
Record-breakers dethrowned were Kay Konerza (Lester Prairie, 1982, fg's attempted, single game), Kelly Skalicky (Albany, 1981, fg's made,tied game and broke 3-game tournament) and Janet Karvonen, New York Mills, 1980, field goals attempted, 3-day tournament). "That's some 'big timber' that fell!"
Both DeLaSalle (AAA) and Hopkins (AAAA) won championships for the third year in a row. Minneota (A) and New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (AA) won their first crowns.
