Chatfield ran its record to 6-3 overall with a win over Winona Cotter Thursday in its only boys basketball game last week.

The Gophers were up 29-25 at the half and then held on to win 48-46 at Cotter in the first game since the holiday break.

"We played poorly for most of the game and had a lot of turnovers (20), but we made some plays at the end to win," said coach Tom Bance.

Scoring was evenly distributed with Nate Skare and Jake Neis each getting nine points, Christian Bance getting eight points, Ethan Woltz and Drew Hurley each getting six points, Brandon Adler scoring four and Jayme LaPlante and Zach Eggers each putting in three points.

Skare had nine rebounds, Adler six and Neis and Woltz four each to lead the team in rebounding. Neis had four assists and Eggers three to lead the Gophers.

The Gophers were scheduled to play Dover-Eyota Tuesday at home and Lewiston-Altura at home on Friday. Next week, they travel to Plainview-Elgin-Millville on Tuesday and then face Caledonia at home on Thursday and Rochester Lourdes at home on Friday.
