If you were at the game, or if you were listening to the game on the

radio, you were totally shocked and stunned at the lack of offense for the

Chatfield Gophers. Coming into the game, the Chatfield rushing game

averaged 6.1 yards per carry. Against the stingy Caledonia defense,

Chatfield could only come up with 23 rushing yards, in 25 attempts, an

average of less than one yard per carry(.9 yards/carry).

Individually, Justin Viss had nine yards in four carries, Jake Neis led

the team with 25 yards on 16 carries, Reid Danielson had one carry, netting

a negative eight yards, Alex Haffner had three yards on three carries and

Nate Skare lost four yards on one carry.

Skare was 2/9 in passing, for 54 yards, and one interception. Jayme

LaPlante caught one of those passes for 44 yards and Danielson had the other

catch for 10 yards.

Those two passes came in the fourth quarter, during the last two

possessions. Up until that point, Chatfield had been held to around 25

yards of offense. "I've never been hit that hard, said running back Alex

Haffner. We just couldn't get anything going", he added.

With the loss, Chatfield finished a very successful season at 9-2, with

both losses coming at the ends of the defending state champion, Caledonia.
