Chatfield's state champion wrestling team continued winning awards in the post-season as wrestlers and the team received many honors, including several for academic achievements.

The Chatfield wrestling team as a whole received the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association (MWCA) Academic All-State Gold Team. Chatfield's wrestling team had a 3.69 grade point average for all team members.

Alex Haffner was chosen to be on the MWCA Academic All-State Wrestling Team. There were 106 nominees and Haffner was one of 28 chosen.

Junior or senior wrestlers are chosen based upon the following criteria:

• Cumulative GPA - 3.95 x 2 = 790 points

• Overall matches wrestled - wins and losses - 1 point per match

• Winning percentage - 77 percent = 77 points

• State tournament participation - 25 points per year

• State tournament placement - first (50 points), second (40), third (35), fourth (25), fifth (20) and sixth (10)

Several members were named to the Three Rivers Conference Athletic-Academic All-Conference Team, in which individuals must be a letter winner and have a 3.5 grade point average or better in the preceding quarter. Winter sports are based on the second quarter grades. The Gophers on that team are Chase Bartels, Alex Coe, Anthony Voigt, Jared Goldsmith, Harvey Friederichs, Alex Haffner, Kevin Bradt, Austin Dahl and Dalton Lundy.

Chatfield's All-Conference and All-Conference Honorable Mention selections all placed in the Section 1A individual tournament. All-Conference selections are Treyc VanSickel (third place at section), Jared Goldsmith (first place at sections), Ty VanSickel (second place at section), Jake Mandt (third place at section), Hank Friederichs (first place at section), AJ Riley (first place at section) Harvey Friederichs (first place at section), Cody Bly (second place at section) and Jacob Blees (third place at section). All-Conference Honorable Mention selections are Alex Haffner (third place at section), Ryan Meeker (second place at section), Dalton Lundy (sixth place at section) and Austin Dahl (sixth place at section).

Three members joined the Guillotine 150 win club, receiving a patch stating they had 150 career wins. Coach Joel Viss said that he has seen the patch before but has not had a wrestler on his team receive this patch in the past. The three are Hank Friederichs (career record 157-21) Harvey Friederichs (184-40) and Alex Haffner (172-68).

AJ Riley (142-38) joined the Guillotine 100 win club.

The Guillotine 75 win club includes Cody Bly (97-35) Jared Goldsmith (79-10) and Ryan Meeker (97-60).

Senior Harvey Friederichs was chosen for the Steve Bradt Memorial Award this year.

The MWCA All-State Wrestlers include Jared Goldsmith, Hand Friederichs, AJ Riley and Harvey Friederichs

Individual state participants, who are the wrestlers who finished first or second in the individual section meet, include Jared Goldsmith (placed second at state), Ty VanSickel, Ryan Meeker, Hank Friederichs (placed first at state), AJ Riley (placed fifth at state), Harvey Friederichs (placed second at state) and Cody Bly.

Several wrestlers also played football, receiving two championship trophies. They are Julius General, Ian Morrison, Ethan Wright, Alex Haffner, Logan Karver, Hank Friederichs, AJ Riley, Ryan Meeker and Cody Bly.
